Canonical Visitation of the General Council to Our Lady of Guadalupe Province (Brazil, from 26 March to 4 April 2024)

After the visit to the Pre-Novitiate 'Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament', in Juiz de Fora, with meetings with those in formation, religious, the Servants, the Lay Associates and with Dom Gil Antônio Moreira (in the center of the photo), Bishop of the Diocese of Juiz de Fora, we went on Tuesday to Belo Horizonte, where the Superior General, together with the Provincial and the General Consultor, visited the Emmaus Centre, the Province’s administration office, and also the house of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament, both located in the Dom Cabral neighbourhood of Belo Horizonte.Visita can 2

Father Philip Benzy and Father Francisco Jr. participated with the community of Boa Viagem in celebrating Holy Week, those Days commemorating the greatest mystery of our faith, Jesus’ Passover. They also held meetings with those in formation and the formator, Father Jesus Neres.

Visit to the SSS Community of Sete Lagoas

The Superior General of the Congregation continues with canonical visits to the SSS communities, this time the Cenacle of Sete Lagoas who welcomed him.

During the meeting with religious Fr. Philip Benzy, sss, Superior General of the Congregation and Fr. Francisco Júnior, sss, the General Consultor for the Americas, had the opportunity to meet first with the religious community, comprising the religious Fr. Jackson Frota , sss, Father Juan Enrique, sss and Father Raimundo Dan, sss; furthermore, they visited the Novitiate Community in which the novices Br. Gleyson, Br. Mateo are in their second year and Br. Willian Germano, Br. Yerson and Br. Fidel are first year novices.

In the afternoon they participated in the Eucharistic Celebration at 6pm, presided over by Father Francisco Júnior, sss, and concelebrated by the Provincial Superior of Colombia, Saint John XIII Province, Fr. Carlos José Sierra, sss, and Fr. Marcelo Carlos, sss, Provincial Superior of the Our Lady of f Guadalupe Province, Brazil.

Shortly after the celebration, a beautiful moment of sharing took place with members of the community of Blessed Sacrament lay associates of Sete Lagoas.

Promises of life Blessed Sacrament Lay Associates of Boa Viagem

The celebration of the promises of life of a new group of vocations from the Association of Blessed Sacrament Lay Associates took place on Wednesday, 3 April, at the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Blessed Eucharist, the church of Our Lady of Boa Viagem.

In a beautiful Eucharistic celebration, presided over by the General Consultor for America Fr. Francisco Júnior, sss, the group of 7 Associate vocations, made their promises of life as Blessed Sacrament Lay Associates – Adriana, Alex, Elisa, Erika, Rosângela, Soraya and Vanilda – to live the Eucharistic charism and spread its fire to the four corners of the earth. On that occasion, they received the cross and the rule of life from the hands of the Superior General of the Congregation, Father Philip Benzy, sss.

Also participating in the celebration were the following Provincials: Fr. Marcelo Carlos, sss, Province Our Lady of Guadalupe, Brazil; Fr. John Thomas Lane, sss, Province of Saint  Ann, USA; Fr. Carlos José Sierra, sss, Province of Saint John XXIII, Colombia; Fr. José Antônio Rivera, sss, General Consultor for Europe; Father José Cícero, sss, Parish Priest of the Our Lady of Boa Viagem Parish and the religious and scholastics of the Boa Viagem community.

Immediately following the celebration there was a moment of sharing, in which Father Philip Benzy, sss, addressed a few words to the new members of Blessed Sacrament Lay Association, emphasising the eucharistic character of their vocation and the promises they made, while he reflected on the message of the 36th General Chapter, which had taken place in November 2023, and he encouraged each member of the Association to continue spreading the fire of the Eucharist to all corners of the world.
