On November 24, 2017 – Friday – at the Church of Khiet Tam parish, which is administered by Blessed Sacrament Congregation, in the Archdiocese of Saigon, the entire SSS brothers came together from various parts of the country to celebrate the Feast of the Vietnamese Martyrs, patron of the Province, as an expression of sharing in the joy of the Catholic Church, especially the Church of Vietnam, in remembrance and glorification of the martyrs. On this day, we celebrated a twofold joy, the gift of faith sown by the blood of the Vietnamese martyrs and the ordination to the priesthood of four SSS priests and of one from another religious institute by the laying on of hands of Most Rev. Paul Bui Van Doc, Archbishop of Saigon. The newly ordained priests are:
- Joseph Nguyen Van Chinh SSS,
- Martino Bui Van Hong Phuc SSS,
- Nguyen Truong Tu SSS,
- Dominic Tran Dinh Tuyen SSS,
- Thomas Aquino Tran Duc Phuong SDD.
The procession leading to the sanctuary of the church lead by the five candidates for ordination then the almost 100 concelebrant priests and followed by the presider bishop, Bp. Paul Bui Van Doc, was set in motion by a booming sound of the Seraphim Drum Orchestra of Khiet Tam parish.
In his homily, Bishop Paul commissioned the new priests to their mission and encouraged them to engage themselves in the missionary activities of the Church.
