On the occasion of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, commonly known as Corpus Christi, the Parish of Saint Benedict in Nganga-Lingolo, Congo-Brazzaville, held a celebration characterised by an indescribable spiritual fervour.

As a prelude to this large-scale celebration, on Sunday 7 June 2026, the parish, led by the SSS religious of the Cardinal Emile Biayenda Region, experienced a Eucharistic week filled with teaching on the Eucharist that culminated in a concert of Eucharistic hymns.

Indeed, the Eucharistic celebration, the high point of this Solemnity, was featured by the First Communion of the newly baptised, the consecration of the catechumens to Mary, and the participation of the major seminarians studying philosophy at the Monsignor Georges Firmin Singha Major Seminary in Brazzaville, accompanied by their formators.

During his homily, Father Jean Jacques Nkodia, the parish priest, emphasised the importance of the Most Holy Eucharist in the life of a Christian, whilst recalling that it is the source and summit of the whole life of the Church. He also encouraged the new communicants to remain faithful to their Christian commitment and to nourish their faith through prayer and works of charity.

One of the key and decisive moments of this celebration was the grand procession of the Blessed Sacrament, a public expression of the Christian parish community’s faith. In an atmosphere of contemplation and praise, the faithful accompanied the Lord through the various alleyways of the parish, praying for peace, unity and the development of the country.

It can be unmistakably said that the celebration of Corpus Christi was an occasion of grace for the parish of Saint Benedict Nganga-Lingolo. It enabled the Christian faithful to strengthen and renew their commitment to Jesus in the Eucharist, truly and substantially present in the Blessed Sacrament.

Let us therefore remember that the Eucharist remains the heart of Christian life and the living sign of God’s Presence amongst his people. “All for the glory of the Most Holy Eucharist”
