Renewal of vows, perpetual vows and diaconal ordination in Congo-Brazzaville

The religious of the only Region of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament had the joy of assisting at Brother Emerlin Mbongo’s perpetual profession of his vows as a full member of our Institute. This happy event took place on the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 8 September 2023, in the parish church, Saint Pierre Claver de Bacongo,. Indeed, this date remains a historic one in the life of the Congregation in Africa in general and in the Region in particular, because for many confreres it recalls their first religious profession. Moreover, it closed an annual five-day retreat in which all members of the said Region participated. Thus, on this blessed day, along with Brother Emerlin, the brothers in temporary vows renewed their vows during the eucharistic celebration presided over by the Reverend Father Jean de Dieu Passy, the Regional Superior, and concelebrated by numerous confreres as well as other priests coming from everywhere.

On the following day, 9 September, Brother Emerlin was ordained deacon by the imposition of the hands of Monsignor Anatole Milandou, Archbishop Emeritus of Brazzaville, in the presence of religious, priests and well-wishers. In his closing remarks Monsignor Anatole, a very close friend of the Region, invited Deacon Emerlin to imitate the path of Father Eymard, who was very close to the poor and the most disadvantaged in society. He also exhorted him about being humble and sincere in his service in the Church while finding Christ in everything he does. The Regional Superior congratulated Brother Emerlin, thanking him for his perseverance and his desire to offer himself fully to the Church.

For these joyous events, we thank God for the gift of the Eucharistic vocation in the Church. We sincerely congratulate Brother Emerlin and offer him our best wishes in his mission.
